Group Project Responsible for the thermodynamic and dynamic analysis in Matlab
Goal
Piston ring may seem the most simple part of the engine, but its design requires the most complex computing tools. The project's aim was the designing of a piston ring (dimensions, tolerance, material, fatigue and compression losses and the wear time) in order to ensure a smooth operation and sealing of the engine pistons.
Process
Model the entire system of piston skirt, rings and walls in order to extract the mathematical equations that describe it.
Using the mathematical model of the system, I found its thermodynamic properties.
Using the thermodynamic properties, I performed kinematic and dynamic analysis as well as forces, mass and energy equilibrium, in order to find the conditions under of which the piston ring is being loaded
